Ayrad is are only runner today, and he returns to defend his crown at Sandown!

Ayrad

Ayrad won the Gala Stakes at Sandown last year and beat one of his rivals today, in Spark Plug. After winning the Gala Stakes he ran a cracking race at Goodwood to be second in a G3 over 12f behind Kings Fete. His final 3 runs of the year were not as good and he was gelded over the winter. He took a long time to come to himself this spring, and just before he ran at Ascot his coat started to glean and he ran a great race in a handicap off 109 to be 5th from a poor draw. Timeform rates it as his best run to date. We are obviously running back a bit quicker than we would like but it seems a suitable race to run in and he would have just needed Ascot. The race today is probably a little stronger than the one he won last year but the conditions are probably most suited to him and he should run well.
