Yellowhammer got the job done and Petitioner stayed on well for second.

It was great to see the horses run so well at Newmarket last night and very rewarding for all concerned to get Yellowhammer back on a racecourse with a win.

Makzeem

Yuften

Today we have to two runners in the Gigaset International at Ascot, which is a massively competitive race. Makzeem goes into it on the back of a great run at Newmarket and is running off a weight 7lbs less than the handicapper wants him to. Being drawn 1 may not be the best he could have but we will see what we can do. Yuften gets some softer ground which will suit him and probably the drop back to 7f is on his side. If he can return to his Lincoln trial and Balmoral winning level then he will go well.

Fengate

Fengate heads north to York. She is a big filly who ran well for a long time in her first start for us and we feel that a galloping track will suit her. She just lugged left at Salisbury and should be better on this course. The ground looked pretty horrible last night at York and hopefully it can dry today and not become sticky. Her homework is good and she should run well.

Salisbury is due a lot of rain and it could get very soft by this evening.

Ancient Longing makes her debut at Salisbury. She only came in to training in March and was therefore behind our 3yos, but she is a nice filly. Very attractive and a good mover. Salisbury on the round course puts a lot of emphasis on experience, with all the bends, especially when there are 14 runners. If she can get away from the stalls and into a good position she should run very well, but she may be too green.

Buffer Zone makes his debut in the 6f maiden. He is a nice horse but will lack experience and would be happier if the rain decided to disappear.

Esprit De Corps

Esprit De Corps was very unlucky last time out at Ascot. He had to loop around the field and picked up so good that he was in front a fair way out and just got caught on the line. He handles fast and good ground, and soft may be an unknown, but we will get a better idea of the conditions this evening.
