Second Step is our first runner at Goodwood this week and we send two to Newmarket.

Nothing more needs to be said about how much rain they have had at Goodwood this week, and it’s anyone’s guess as to how it will ride today or where the jockeys will come on the course! Second Step really hasn’t been on very soft ground, which is amazing as he has run a lot of races. It was good to soft last time and when he won his maiden, but that is all we can say that this stage. He seems in great nick and the horses in the race have similar form, with Poet’s Word the stand out. The one who handles the ground best and shows some tenacity will be the winner.

At Newmarket Discovered and Casement run in the 1m maiden. It is a strong race for the time of the year, but both of ours are nice horses. They ran in good maidens last time and showed glimpses of promise. Casement is back in trip but on a much more suitable course for him, as he is a big horse with a great stride. Discovered played up in the stalls last time and has passed his stalls test since.
