Second Step ran a blinder to be second at Goodwood.

He is holding his form well and is crying out for a race where they go a proper tempo. It was no disgrace to be beaten by what is sure to be a G1 horse in the future.

At Newmarket Casement ran a lovely race after some time off to be beaten by the much-hyped Mountain Hunter. He should take another step forward next time out, and hopefully can win his maiden.

Projection

Today we have three runners. Projection has been ante post favourite for the Stewards Cup since his incredible run on the wrong side at Ascot. We have a good record in the race having won it with Harmonic Way, Genki and Patavellian. The draw may well have played havoc with us again. The opening up of a strip on that far rail seem to create a massive advantage for those that got across to it yesterday. In normal years the stands rail is the place to be when the ground is slower than good, but maybe the freak weather has changed that, meaning that more horses have been up the stands rail than normal this week. He is in great form and we will just have to see how it pans out.

Blakeney Point

Blakeney Point heads to Goodwood for the 1m 6f handicap. If he handles the ground, which is an unknown for most of the horses, he has a great chance. He was massively unlucky at Haydock when dropped down in trip last time, and he never runs a bad race.

Esprit de Corps

Esprit De Corps missed his engagement at Salisbury last week due to the bottomless ground. We hope that the rain that is expected around lunch today is not heavy, as the ground was beautiful last night. He was very unlucky last time at Ascot, in that he travelled so well and got there half a furlong early before he got caught on the line. Today he is in against Mojito, who we know well as we beat him at Haydock. He won a good race last time and somehow the handicapper only put him up 5lbs, and since most of the horses behind him have won. So we have our work cut out to beat that horse, but potentially Mojito is better on quicker ground.
