Gavota wins on debut.

We were pleased to see Gavota win yesterday. She had been working nicely and we were expecting her natural ability to serve her well. The most pleasing part of the race was that she would have learnt plenty. Kept in a tight gap throughout, she had to organise herself in the dip before stretching well up the hill. She is a lengthy, light framed filly who should progress well throughout the year with a step up in trip no problem.

In the first race at Newmarket today we send out our first Al Kazeem runner in the shape of Clairette. It looks a very hot, deep race with plenty of big stables represented. We are hopeful of a pleasing start to her career and something to look forward to as the season goes on.

At Haydock Ayrad runs in the Rose Of Lancaster. Ayrad made a great seasonal return in the Wolverton Handicap at Royal Ascot before running well below par just 13 days later. There was no real excuse for that however we think he is a horse who benefits from time between races and as a result, the ‘Bounce’ factor may have played a part. He has been freshened up for today and if he can run back to his best form he would definitely be in with a chance.
