23rd August 2017

Its day one of York and we have two exciting runners.

Having had a wet month, we finally had a dry week, but sadly this may all be undone by the rain they are expecting this morning. It can get loose there and that doesn’t always suit all horses, and we would consider both Atty Persse and Decorated Knight to be fast ground horses.

Atty Persse

Atty Persse ran no sort of race last time, and obviously needs to take a big step forward today to feature. Last time at Newmarket he ran flat and didn’t enjoy the undulations of the track. Today is more conventional and he should get the strong pace and test of stamina that he likes. Loose ground would not be to his liking.

Decorated Knight

Decorated Knight has run brilliantly all season, having started at Lingfield, been to Dubai and Ascot. He has been amazingly consistent and has showed his toughness and ability all year. The Eclipse was a very messy race and having taken a bump or two, he was set alight early in the straight and faded in the final furlong. We gave him a little break and freshened him up, and hopefully he can come back to his best today.
