Second Step takes the The August Stakes

It was great to see Second Step win his second race of the year at Windsor. That was his fifth run of the year and he has not been out of the three, and he is probably unlucky not to be 3/5. It’s been a great thrill seeing him enjoying himself, and to actually quicken clear of the field to see him win by his biggest winning margin. He is happily out in the paddock this morning and we will look for another race for him in the next month. We had been trying to give him a month between his races, and actually slightly broke that rule yesterday, due to the fact that he was so fresh and even managed to get loose last week!

Eynhallow returns to Goodwood for his third start there this season. His form has looked progressive all year from the moment he beat Secret Advisor who was 8lbs well in that day. Last time didn’t pan out as the winner had an easy lead, whilst those sitting second and third sat too far off him, leaving us along way out of our ground. Today is a better quality of race and there should be a better pace which will suit us. He has a great mind and hopefully he can go close for the owners and the breeder, who is having a wonderful run with Billesdon Brook and Bess.
