I was very honoured and certainly surprised to receive two awards at the Horseracing Awards on Thursday night at the InterContinental Hotel in London sponsored by the ROA and Weatherbys Bank .
Captain Cat took the Outstanding All-Weather Horse prize, having produced one of the most impressive performances of Good Friday. He swooped from last to first under James Doyle to capture the Ladbrokes Mile at Lingfield.
The Flat Special Achievement Award was won by Al Kazeem, richly deserved in my opinion for fighting his way back to full fitness. His epic battle with Noble Mission in the QIPCO Champion Stakes at Ascot, narrowly being touched off in the final strides, in a race that will live long in the memory for a lot of people.
