6th October 2015

One to Kempton and one to Leicester today.

Intermittent runs for the first time in the second division of the fillies seven furlong maiden at Leicester at 2.40pm. She is a half sister to Fledged who stayed fourteen furlongs and Angelic Air. Her dam Innocent Air won the Washington Singer Listed race at Newbury in August as a two year old. Intermittent is bred at stay at least ten furlongs next year.

The going at Leicester is described as good to soft and soft in places with more rain forecast. It is not ideal to run a two year old first time out on testing ground that they would not have experienced at home. The opportunities of finding decent ground at this time of year are diminishing.

Clowance One runs at Kempton in the twelve furlong maiden at 6.10pm. In his last race at Newbury he looked the most likely winner in the closing stages but tired in the very testing going. He should have a good chance; Rebel Collins has good bumper form for David Evans.

Quest for More continues his preparation for the Melbourne Cup on the 3rd November. He has a few days left to complete his quarantine in Werribee along with several other British horses including Trip to Paris and the great Red Cadeaux. His long thirty six hour journey from the UK ten days ago went without a hitch. It is the first time he has flown anywhere or indeed travelled beyond Newcastle. It is important to get the horses eating and drinking and back into a routine. At the moment they are experiencing a mini heat wave with temperatures over thirty degrees. Yesterday he had a spin around Werribee racecourse on the grass with Tommy Berry who I hope will be available to ride him in the Caulfield Cup on Saturday the 17th October which remains a possible prep race for the big one on the 3rd November.
