Captain Cat has his final qualifying run before the Easter Friday Finals. Captain Cat ran a solid race last 18 days ago when he was beaten 1 length by the likes of Grendisar, Festive Fare and Lamar, who are all in the upper echelon of all weather horses. 2 furlongs out Jamie thought he was going to win, but as we suspected before he doesn't quite stay the trip and the others stayed on better than him in the last furlong. Back down to a mile, this is more to his liking, but again we come accross a very small field, where the pace is unlikely to be as strong as he would like. In opposition today is Sloane Avenue who ran a monstrous race in Dubai last year from a shocking draw. If he brings that level of form then it will be tricky for any of them to beat him. He has been off for 11 months, but their aim is to go back to Dubai in a couple of weeks and so I would be surprised if he was too far from full fitness.
