Quest for More’s win was a wonderful triumph.

It was his first attempt at the lengthy distance of a little more than 2m 4f and as we thought, he stayed all of it. At home he has the ability to go 35mph for as long as you want, but is quick enough to do a 40mph furlong. He is a remarkable horse and is unlucky not to be unbeaten in his last 3 races. The previous two races were tough ones and he showed no signs of that affecting him. We had talked about either making the running, or if not making it not to sit too close and get left in front a long way from home as he can idle. We did not discuss sitting last behind the favourite who has the speed to be only beaten 2 lengths in a G1 over 1m 4f in the summer. As per, George judged it perfectly and having not travelled as well as he can, he left him alone and Questy repaid him up the straight with a big winning move.  He travelled back well and seemed as happy as larry yesterday evening. The weather forecast suggests we are in for a dry week, and so we can’t rule out having a go at the Champions Day Stayers race, but preference would be to give him a break and look at Dubai in March.

Also on Saturday Battlement, sister to Suffused, daughter of Scuffle and niece of Bated Breath and Cityscape got placed in The Listed race at Ascot, which was a brilliant result. She has won 3 and been placed 6 times, and it would look like she will claim further stakes race black type in the future.

Leapt

Today Leapt heads to Windsor and has been handed by far the tougher of the two divisions by chance. He ran a nice race at Sandown, showing good speed and resolution up the hill. The step up in trip will not be against him.
