Full Footage was again a little disappointing in her race at Windsor and will be heading to the July sales where she should be of interest to continue racing or to breed from.  She is from a wonderful Juddmonte family as her dam is by the Group race sire Distant View and out of Zaizafon making her a half sister to Zafonic and Zamindar and in total nine winners.   We also have her half brother Newnton Lodge (a two year old) who is by Rail Link in training and showing plenty of promise.

Camberley Two ran another good and progressive race and was competently ridden by Charlie Bishop. He was in good form this morning and the plan is to return to Brighton to run again tomorrow.

Sunday 26 June

Genki seems fine after his G3 victory at Newcastle yesterday. His win took his earnings to over a 1/4 million pounds, which is brilliant for a £55k yearling purchase. He is obviously a gelding, so as long as he is sound and happy he will keep running. The obvious plan would be to head for the G1 Darley July Cup at Newmarket on July 9th, where the faster ground and quick pace will suit him even more. The key is getting him to settle, as he is getting quicker and quicker with old age.

Federation ran at Doncaster last night and performed with credit on what was fast ground. The winner had good form, having been 4th in what looked like being an ordinary listed oaks trial at Newbury earlier in the season, but turned out to include Dancing Rain (1st Oaks), Izzi Top (3rd Oaks) and Rumh (who won a  listed race by 6 lengths after that). Federation traveled over the field like the winner, but looked not to get home. The step up in trip form 7f to 1m 2f seemed not to suit, and although being by Motivator, her sister Attraction was very quick as everybody knows, and none of the other siblings have stayed much beyond a 1m.

Deck Walk who is the biggest horse in the yard, and makes the likes of Cityscape, Border Patrol and Genki look small did not handle Lingfield last night. She is a long striding horse, who would prefer a fast run race on a galloping track, which was not the case last night. She got very unbalanced throughout and the jockey reported her to be still "weak". I thought she may be able to win the race due to the moderate opposition, but it didn't workout. She will be out on a more suitable course in the near future.

Camberley Two runs today at Salisbury under a penalty, having won at Brighton at the beginning of the week. As said before he has been one of the slowest learners I have come across, as seen in his runs last year, especially at Sandown. He won off a mark of 53 on Tuesday and carries a 6lbs penalty today, with the aid of Charlie Bishop who takes off 3. I believe that he will go up 10 lbs for his win at Brighton, so he is effectively well in, and timeform suggest a lot more than that. The race is limited to jockeys who have ridden a certain amount of winners, and Charlie has ridden all 10 of his winners this year, having only started riding on the flat at the back end of last year, and currently has a strike rate of 25% on the turf and 22% in total, which is trumped only by the mercurial Barlazona. He is a jockey I have seen a lot of, as he was in the Pony racing scene at the same time as my son. If Camberley turns up in the form he was on Tuesday he should go very close. I have declared him to run back at Brighton on Tuesday, which is something we will consider, depending on his wellbeing and the outcome today, where he would face 5 others.

Full Footage runs at Windsor today. She ran badly on unsuitable ground last time out, and we are hoping that she shows more before she heads to the July sales at Newmarket in a couple of weeks.

I thought that Starlight Walk ran a good, tough and genuine race but unfortunately found one too good for her and was beaten less than a length, granted some luck she should find a race soon.  What a star my old friend Genki is to deliver again and win his first Group race, I am really thrilled with him.

FRIDAY 24/6/2011

Starlight Walk runs this evening with Ryan Moore in the 7.35pm at Newmarket. She runs in a handicap for the first time with a rating of 73 having finished 2nd in a mile and a half maiden race at Leicester last month. She should be suited by going up another furlong as she stays on well at the end of her races. Her half brother Tactician who is by Motivator runs in the Northumberland Plate tomorrow and must also have a good chance.

Starlight Walk

On Saturday we have three runners with Genki making the long journey to Newcastle to run in the Chipchase Stakes Group 3 .  He will be ridden for the first time by George Baker and I hope that the ground continues to dry out but there is a chance of more rain tomorrow.  If the ground is soft or lose, he must be considered to be a doubtful runner.  He seems to have recovered well from his race in the Golden Jubilee last Saturday and he has regained all the weight (12 kilos) that he lost.  In 2009 he won the Stewards Cup having finished 4th in a 7 furlong handicap 7 days before so I hope that he can cope with the quick return.  With only 8 runners there is a possibility there might be a lack of pace which won't suit him.

Genki

Federation a half sister to Attraction by Motivator makes her second start at Doncaster at 7.45pm a fillies mile and a quarter maiden race.  She made her first and only start at Newbury in April over 7 furlongs and I hope she will be suited by the step up in trip. Tomorrows race looks quite tough and competitive with two Godolphin fillies together with Stella Point who has a handicap rating of 92, but I hope she runs well as she is a nice filly.

Federation (nearside)

Deck Walk goes to Lingfield to run in the 7.55 pm a mile and a quarter maiden race on the all weather. She is the biggest filly we have had in training at Beckhampton for sometime or possibly ever, measuring 16.2.50 hh.  She ran a race full of promise at Nottingham in May and as long as she handles the surface and short run in, I hope that she has a good chance of getting off the mark.

WEDNESDAY 22/6/11

At last Camberley Two is going in the right direction, growing up and learning from his races. He handled the track and won well but it is fair to say that the opposition looked fairly exposed.  I am hoping that he will recover quickly so that he can run again in a Hands and Heels apprentice race at Salisbury on Sunday with a 6lb penalty.

TUESDAY 21/6/2011

Camberley Two is our only runner today and he runs at Brighton in the 4.30pm and he's being ridden by Richard Kingscote who had such a good Ascot and who started his apprenticeship at Beckhampton.  He should be suited by stepping up to a mile having stayed on well over 7 furlongs at Salisbury last time to dead heat for third with Mini's Destination who followed up by winning at Salisbury on 12th June.  Although he has been a slow learner the penny is starting to drop but he does still have a dislike to any form of kick back and with the ground likely to be on the soft side there will be plenty of mud flying about.

SUNDAY 19/6/2011

With the ground riding soft If only the Queen Anne had been run yesterday and the Golden Jubilee on the first day ' the brothers' Cityscape and Bated Breath just might of finished a tad closer.  Sadly our runners didn't really do quite as well as I had hoped.  Definightly made the running as planned, keeping 5 meters away from the stand rail where I thought that the grounds was less cut up, but having gone perhaps a little too fast in the early stages he faded just before the final furlong post.  Being drawn high appeared to be a disadvantage.  He seems to have developed tremendous speed and granted 5 furlongs on soft or heavy ground he should be winning another Group race this year.  Genki was perhaps a bit too fresh and keen having not run for over 5 weeks and Jamie Spencer had a bumping match with Bated Breath as they both tried to get some cover behind the only front runner on the far side Hooray.  He probably arrived there too soon for him and faded in the closing stages to be beaten less than 4 lengths. Jamie reported that he travelled well but  'sprawled a bit ' in the soft ground when he came under pressure in the closing stages. Genki is likely to be given an entry in the Chipchase Stakes Group 3 at Newcastle on Saturday, he won the Stewards Cup after a 7 day break in 2009.  Bated Breath ran a good race to finish 5th and beaten less than 2 lengths but it was a bit frustrating to finish behind Society Rock and Monsieur Chevalier having all ready beaten them earlier in the season. The bumping match with Genki didn't help Bated Breath as it unsettled him, also I believe faster ground might have helped him.  Not for the first time the Wokingham was run in a slightly faster time by (0.22 seconds) than the Golden Jubilee. A big well done to James Skeleton Fanshawe for his wonderful day.

FRIDAY 17/6/2011

We hope to mount a three pronged attack on the Group 1 Golden Jubilee, first run in 1868, at Ascot tomorrow, a race that Beckhampton won with Danehill and Harmonic Way.  The weather forecast for today looks fairly horrendous with rain expected by lunchtime and likely to continue for up to 12 hours.  The ground is currently soft but the straight course is specially formulated with a certain amount of sand mixed into the soil and as a consequence tends to drain well. There have been occasions after heavy rain when the ground at Ascot has become rather loose, which does not always suit horses that like soft ground.

The last time we had three runners in a Group 1 race was in 2005 in the Prix de L'Abbaye when Avonbridge beat Striking Ambition a short neck with Patavellian beaten less than 2 lengths in 5th. It's exciting to have 3 runners and all with good chances of making the frame.

Definightly needs the ground to be as soft or heavy as possible and is drawn in stall 17 and as a front runner should have the advantage of being able to come up the stand rails. When he ran at Maisons- Laffitte he beat Dalghar no less than 9 1/2 lengths in heavy ground.  Definightly has now won 6 of his 18 races and all on soft ground.

Definightly

Genki has won twice at Ascot and he was just touched off by Bewitched at Ascot (on Good to soft) in the Autumn by 3/4 length but she meets him on 3lb better terms tomorrow.  Genki seems to operate happily on fast ground and is very unsuited to the ground becoming loose as he seems to lose his confidence but it should be remembered that he did win the Stewards Cup in 2009 on very soft ground at Goodwood.

Genki who could have a job in the circus one day !

Bated Breath comes into the race after two confidence boosting victories and he remains in excellent form having had a good preparation. I am a little concerned about the going as it is still unknown as to whether he will handle it if it becomes very testing. There were legitimate excuses for him being beaten on soft ground at Newmarket last year. I get the impression that some Dansili's are suited by fast ground and there is a possibility that Delegator who is also by Dansili may become a doubtful runner. This year's race would appear to be a very open and competitive with 9 of the top rated horses being separated by 4lb or 2 lengths according to Timeform.

THURSDAY 16/6/2011

Proponent jumped out of the stalls rather agressively and unfortunately Harry Bentley was unable to get him covered and consequently he ran with the "choke out" and saw too much daylight throughout the race, this did not suit him and he faded in the closing stages.  We have no runners today or tomorrow but I am looking forward to the Golden Jubilee on Saturday
