Saturdays runners

Cityscape is a horse that needs good or soft ground and he has been a difficult horse to train until the recent rains arrived. We have had to be very patient with him but I hope this afternoon that the ground will be suitable and it will be great to get him back on the racecourse. He remains a colt with potential to improve and at this stage he remains a possible for the Cambridgeshire.

Genki was unsuited to the loose ground on Day 5 of Goodwood and although he won the Stewards Cup last year I have never thought that a downhill course would suit him. His owners are keen to run him at Haydock and I am sure he will give a good account of himself but he needs to improve at least 14lbs to beat the favourite. The Ayr Gold Cup would remain on his agenda as long as he does not have any reoccurrence of his back problems.

Walcot Square has perhaps been a little disappointing but his work has been encouraging and I hope that 7 furlongs may suit him better than a mile.  It does not look a strong race so lets hope he can break his duck.

Thursdays results

Full Footage was a bit inexperienced before the race which was understandable for a home bred particularly as there was so many runners. She showed her inexperience during the race and got a bit tired in the closing stages but will improve as she gets stronger.

Folly Bridge ran another marvellous race but was beaten by two fillies that still have a few pounds in hand with the handicapper. She has been very consistent and tough and I was pleased with her.  Her next race is likely to be in a mile Listed handicap for fillies at Ascot  on the 25th September.

Thursdays runners

Full Footage is a filly by Lando from the family of Zafonic, she is an attractive and good moving filly who should improve with time and distance. She has been showing up nicely in her work and I am expecting some encouragement for the future today.

Folly Bridge has been wonderfully consistent all season and has won quite alot of prize money, her last race was not run to suit her as she was a little free in the early stages until she got some cover. She has a good draw today, likes the fast ground and has a chance of being in the shake up but as you would expect from a valuable race,  it looks competitive.

Tuesdays runner

Truly Asia got a bit unbalanced on the undulations and bend at Folkestone last night but once he was in the straight, he stayed on to finish 3rd.  On a more suitable track he probably would have been 2nd but the winner won with plenty in hand.
