6 runners today in a bumper assault at 3 tracks
Casimiro heads to Nottingham for the 1m handicap on the turf, having run on the all-weather last time and when he broke his maiden. The handicapper went a bit tonto with his mark when he won and now he is back to 85, and in a slightly lower class of race which always helps. It is still competitive and he will need to be at his best to win. He seems well at home and Harry Bentley takes the ride. He has coped with softer ground, but good is probably what he wants.
Pescedora makes her debut in the fillies maiden over a mile. She has a good staying pedigree and we expect her to need further next year. She is a very attractive filly, and hardy as well, but she will be very green today.
At Salisbury Ayrad runs in a handicap. The course should suit him well but the heavy ground may not. On the plus side, that will stretch Almoreb’s stamina as he is stepping up in trip. Master Carpenter loves cut in the ground and is always a danger,
L’Explora makes her debut at Kempton over 6f. She is a nice filly, ready to make her first start on a course and will come on for the race. She is obviously very well bred and it will be nice to get her out. Being drawn 10 is if no use to anyone!
Kassar has an even worse draw out in 14 of 14. He is an imposing horse who is ready to run and hopefully he can defy his draw and show some promise towards the end of the race. It is never easy when thee are lots of inexperienced horses in a large race.
Ply broke the track record last week and is due to go up 11lbs in the handicap, but runs with a 6lbs penalty so is 5lbs well in. He has an obvious chance and loves the surface. Hopefully, he can reproduce a week later. We haven’t asked him any questions at home this week.
