Harry Charlton
In the 1830s William Treen converted the Catherine Wheel Inn from a stopping point on the London to Bath coaching route into a training stable and also trained Beckhampton’s first classic winner Deception. Roger started as assistant to Jeremy Tree in 1978 taking over the stables in 1990. Since then he has had success at all levels and distances from speedy two year olds to mature stayers from maidens to Classics. Today it is a modern racing stable presided over by its first training partnership. After assisting his father Harry has now taken on equal responsibility for maintaining Beckhampton’s place in racing history.
