Escape Proof wins at Leicester and 7 runners split today between 4 courses

 In Beckhampton News

Two year old Escape Proof broke her maiden yesterday at Leicester on her second run of her career. Having broke well from the stalls she was up at the front pretty much from the off and made all to win nicely by 1 ½ lengths. She is the first horse we have trained by Cityscape who was also trained here at Beckhampton and was a real favourite for many reasons.

Today we have 7 runners between four courses.

Our first runner starts at Newmarket in the ‘ Fillies’ Novice Stakes. Fashion Royalty who is owned by Mr Andrew Rosen will be making her racecourse debut in a field of 8 runners. Her full brother War Decree who was trained by A P O’Brien was a winner of a Group 3 and Group 2 over a trip of 7 furlongs and 1 mile 2 furlongs. She has been given a draw of 2 with Jason Watson taking the ride.  There are some tidy pedigrees on show and the favourite has some decent form but hopefully she can run a nice race on debut.

The second runner is Campari at Ffos las in the ‘Fly Tui From Cardiff Airport/EBF Novice Stakes’. He too is making his racecourse debut in a field that holds 11 runners. He has been drawn 11 and Adam McNamara takes the ride. He was bought at the Doncaster Breeze ups by Matt Coleman and is by the Whitsbury sire Due Diligence who has had plenty of winners in his first season. Campari is a very long striding horse who has plenty of scope and could probably run a mile now.

Striking Approach is our third runner of the day at Newmarket in the ‘British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes’. Like our first two runners he also is making his racecourse debut today in a field of 10 runners with a draw of 7. Jason Watson takes the ride. He is a horse with a very good mind and although he is not overly big and doesn’t carry a lot of condition he has a good action. The pedigrees in the race are impressive and it could be very strong.

Our fourth runner of the day is Great Bear at Newmarket in the ‘Racing TV Handicap’. Last time out he came back home sore having pulled some muscles behind. He is back in good shape now and he has run well at 12fs on this track before. He could easily step up to 1m 6f in the future. His field contains 7 runners with a few competitive runners included and he has been drawn 2. Jason Watson takes the ride.

The Fifth runner today is Total Commitment  who finished his 2 year old campaign off with a nice win at Kempton. He has had some boring little niggles all year which has kept him off the track and it’s just nice to get him back on the track for his owners. He will come on a lot for the race but looks in great shape. His race today has 7 runners as well as being drawn 7. Jason Watson takes the ride.

Our sixth runner of the day is the D J Deer owned Cambric. She is our only runner at Salisbury this evening in the ‘Venture Security Handicap’. This season she has provided the yard with 2 wins out of her four starts as a 3 year old. She is up in trip which should suit and Oisin takes the ride again. She is up 6lbs which is a little harsh on what she achieved but she has a good mind and hopefully can cope with it. Today’s race holds 8 runners all having had plenty of experience.

The last runner today is Junior Rip who returns back to his winning track Chelmsford. He runs in the ‘ Book Tickets At Handicap’ under Jason Watson. The field today holds a number of 9 runners and he has been drawn 7.
