Five runners for Beckhampton today
Today we have a busy day with 1 runner at Newmarket and 4 runners at Newbury.
Our first runner of the day is Momkin who is our only runner at Newmarket (July) in the ‘Edmondson Hall Solicitors Sir Henry Cecil Stakes’. His last start was in the ‘Jersey Stakes’ at Royal Ascot in which he ran a fantastic race but was very unlucky to get caught up in traffic and finish 6th with only 3 ¾ lengths between him and the winner. The race today holds 6 runners including Urban Icon who finished 4th in the Jersey Stakes and Duke Of Hazzard who finished 5th. The race also includes Turgenev who finished 2nd in the Britannia Stakes. Although there is very competitive form coming into this race we would like to think Momkin can produce another strong performance and with a lot less runners should be able to avoid any traffic. He has been drawn 1 and wears blinkers again. Andrea Atzeni takes the ride.
Our second runner today and the first of the 4 at Newbury is Summer lake in the ‘Calders & Grandidge EBF Fillies’ Novice Auction Stakes’. She has had just the 2 starts in her career so far in which she should have gained more experience from and hopefully improved. Today’s race holds 13 runners and she has a draw of 7. Megan Nicholls takes the ride.
The third runner of the day is Imperium in the ‘ Kennet Centre Novice Stakes’. He has had 2 starts in his career so far in which he improved from his first run to his second. He has been dropped back a furlong and has a draw of 6. Trevor Whelan takes the ride.
Our fourth runner is Cochise who also runs in the ‘Kennet Centre Novice Stakes’. Today he is making his racecourse debut for his owner Philip Newton. He is a lovely gelding by Intello, his half – brother Mekong who is trained by Sir Michael Stoute is the winner of a big Handicap and finished 2nd in the ‘Coral Marathon (Listed race)’. Jason Watson takes the ride.
Our last runner today is Tamachan in the ‘Bombay Sapphire Handicap’. The race holds 6 runners and she has been drawn 4. Today the hood has been removed and Jason Watson takes the ride.
