The horses continue in fine form
Blakeney Point and Atty Persse both ran big races in the Old Newton Cup on Saturday. Blakeney Point had a horrible draw and had to sit last, before he flew home, finishing the best of them all to be 5th. There is a big one in him very soon. Atty made a pleasing comeback having slightly lost his form at the end of last year. It was great to see him relax well and finish nicely. Jamie wasn’t hard on him and to finish as close as he did in 3rd, was impressive. Both horses have come out of the race in great shape.
Timespan travelled north to Ripon earlier in the week and just ran into one, in finishing second. She won’t be long in breaking her maiden.
Herculean won at Pontefract yesterday. We have been waiting for some better ground for him all year and we had to run him in less than ideal conditions, as there is no clear sign of when this weather may break. The uphill nature of the track at Pontefract was what we were looking for. He got the job done without having a hard race and we hope he can progress further in the future.
Today Magellan makes his second start of the year having run a nice race behind the Haydock specialist Sofia’s Rock. They went a relentless gallop which didn’t help given he had been off the track for so long. We head to the all weather to avoid the ground, because although he is a very good mover, he is a very big horse and it wouldn’t be fair.
