Jumbly breaks the 1 million pound mark at Tattersalls December Mare Sale
On Tuesday Jumbly travelled to Newmarket to sell at the Tattersalls December Mare Sale to sell in the Sceptre Session.
Jumbly was a great flag bearer for the yard in 2021 and 2022 having won 4 races which included the Listed ‘Radley Stakes’ at Newbury in 2021 and the Group 3 ‘Longines Valiant Stakes’ at Ascot in 2022 beating multiple stakes winner Oscula. As well as placing 2nd in the Group 3 ‘Fred Darling Stakes’ at Newbury Jumbly finished 4th in the Group 2 ‘Rockfel Stakes’ at Newmarket on only her 3rd career start.
The family of Jumbly have been well known at Beckhampton for a few years now. Her dam Thistlebird was a multiple Group winner for Beckhampton finishing her racing career with a Group 1 win in the ‘Pretty Polly Stakes’ at the Curragh. She has since gone on to produce 5 foals of racing age including Jumbly. Three of Thistlebird’s other foals where all winners here at Beckhampton and her 2 year old by Kingman called Epictetus is already a winner from 3 starts for John and Thady Gosden as well as placing 2nd in a Group 3 and Group 2 race.
Although it was fantastic seeing Jumbly sell for 1,250,000 gns it was also sad to see her go as she has given us, the team and especially her groom Amy who has looked after her since the day she arrived at Beckhampton, some fantastic days and memories. We wish her new connections lots of luck with her and we look forward to watching her new journey.
