Quadrilateral claims victory in Fillies’ Mile and Great Bear heads to Wolverhampton

 In Beckhampton News

Yesterday the unbeaten daughter of Frankel Quadrilateral travelled to Newmarket for the ‘ bet365 Fillies’ Mile’. Having won her first start at Newbury in a Maiden Stakes and her second start also at Newbury  in a Conditions stakes the step up to Group 1 company was quite an ask of her. Going into the race she was in very good order at home but with the strong competition we knew she was going to be up against it was hard to tell exactly how she was going to handle it. She settled well in mid division and with over two furlongs left to go Jason Watson had to get to work on her which is when it looked unlikely to be her day. However once switched to the rail with a gap slowly diminishing she battled it out to get her head in front to take the Group 1 victory. It is a great honour to be sent such a lovely filly by Prince Khalid and Juddmonte Farms as well as providing Jason Watson with his first Group 1 winner in the UK.

Today we have Great Bear travelling to Wolverhampton for the ‘Follow Us On Twitter @wolvesraces Handicap’. He put in a strong performance last time out to be headed just before the line to finish 2nd. Today his race holds 7 runners with a variation in form behind each. Thomas Greatrex takes the ride and will take 5lbs off with his claim.
