Ragnar puts in a winning performance on his first appearance for Beckhampton Stables

 In Beckhampton News

Yesterday the Kingwood Stud owned Ragnar made his first appearance for the yard at Sandown. The soft ground didn’t seem to phase him and he went on to win by a nose having quickened past them with consummate ease, and idling a little in front. We didn’t know what to expect as he hadn’t be here long but it was nice to see him win so well for his owners.

Today we have three runners between Sandown and Bath.

Our first runner of the day is Mubariz at Sandown in the ‘ randoxhealth.com Handicap’. He won on his third racecourse appearance at Nottingham in what has turned out to be a competitive novice stakes. Today will be his first run this year as a three year old, and he will definitely come on for the race given the ground will be sticky and it’s a stiff track, but hopefully he can show up well. Jason Watson takes the ride.

Our second runner of the day is Chop Chop at Bath in the ‘Value Rater Racing Club Is Free Handicap’. She put in a convincing performance last time out at Lingfield to finish third. The race today holds 14 runners and she has been dropped back in trip from 7 ½ furlongs to a stiff 5 ½ furlongs, and hopefully she doesn’t find that too sharp. Adam McNamara takes the ride.

The last runner of the day is Stone Mason at Sandown In the ‘British EBF Maiden Stakes’. Today will be his third appearance on the racecourse having finished a very encouraging third on his debut. We have removed the tongue tie as it upset him a little at Carlisle. The race today has nine runners with a variation in form behind them. Jason Watson takes the ride.
