Six runners travel to Newbury

It has been a busy weekend for the yard having had 5 runners at Newbury yesterday and six runners heading off today.

The first of our runners is Whitebeam who makes her racecourse debut over 7 furlongs in the ‘Coln Valley Stud Bridget Maiden Fillies’ Stakes’ for owners Juddmonte. By Caravaggio she is a half sister to Lucid Dreamer who was a winner of two races when in training here at Beckhampton. The dam sleep walk was a winner of three races when also in training here as well as grand dam Scuffle. The race today has a field of 9 runners and Whitebeam has been drawn 2. Richard Kingscote takes the ride.

Discretion is our second runner and runs in the ‘Highclere Thoroughbred Racing Maiden Fillies’ Stakes’ for her owner H M The Queen. She had one run as a two year old in which she finished 5th over a mile. Today she makes a step up in trip to a mile and 2 furlongs which breeding suggests she may like. The race today has a field of 15 runners and she has been drawn 10. Ryan Moore takes the ride.

Flora Macdonald makes her racecourse debut in the ‘Highclere Thoroughbred Racing Maiden Fillies’ Stakes’ for owner Philip Newton. By Gleneagles she is a half sister to Mekong a winner of three races as well as Listed and Group 2 placed. She is also a half sister to Cochise who won 2 races when in training here at Beckhampton. She has been drawn 15 with Trevor Whelan taking the ride. She also has a hood applied to help keep her settled.

Dancing Tango also makes her racecourse debut in the ‘Highclere Thoroughbred Racing Maiden Fillies’ Stakes’ for owner Fishdance Ltd. She is a full sister to Dancing Approach who was a winner of 2 races when in training here. She has been drawn 8 with James Doyle taking the ride. We look forward to learing more about her today.

Imperium runs in the ‘Compton Beauchamp Estates Ltd Silver Bar Handicap’ for owners Weston Brook Farm & Bromfield. Today will be his first start back on the Turf since this meeting last year although he has ran 5 times on the all weather including 2 wins. He has been drawn 1 with Richard Kingscote taking the ride.

Honky Tonk Man is the last of our runners and runs in the ‘Dubai Duty Free Full Of Surprises Handicap’ for owners de Zoete, Inglett & Jones. He had three runs as a two year old in which he showed huge promise having won his last two starts. Today he makes his debut as a three year old and stays running over 7 furlongs. He has been drawn 10 in a field of 10 runners with Trevor Whelan taking the ride.
